by Chris Brannick Published: April 16, 2014

Soccer fans, artists and anyone who loves to be part of history now have a unique opportunity.

Oklahoma City FC announced today, a contest running from April 16 to May 14, in which fans can design the team’s scarf. All designs need to be submitted to the team’s Facebook page.

A staple in soccer, the scarf plays a major role to each and every club. Its history traces back to the beginning of modern day soccer over 100 years ago.

Before hoodies and jerseys, fans wore scarves to identify them with their team.

Oklahoma City FC said the scarves can be designed however the fan wants, they only need to contain the teams logo and colors. The size of the scarf is 62 inches long by seven inches long.

Oklahoma City FC begins play in the NASL (North American Soccer League) in 2015.
