Oklahoma City homebrewers showcase set for return date

by Nick Trougakos Published: October 24, 2013

If you really enjoyed the Mashed In OKC event hosted at TapWerks earlier this year, you, fine people, are in luck.

The event will be back next year at TapWerks — scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 16 — but with a few twists.

For one, the name is changing from Mashed In OKC to Mashed In Homebrewer’s Showcase.  The event will be organized and managed for 2014 by the city’s two homebrew supply stores, The Brew Shop and Learn to Brew.

The guys from COOP Ale Works, who spearheaded the event this year, are stepping into the background for next year as they concentrate on plans for their new brewery, organizers said.

Additionally, the 2014 event will not a feature a competition portion — it will simply be a showcase of homebrewed beer.

Regardless, it should be quite a showcase. Fifty homebrewers will be featured, and most will likely offer several beers. Do the math — that’s a lot of variety. And the best part is, the showcase is free to attend. Each homebrew shop and TapWerks will have a limited number of free passes to distribute at the end of January.

Interested in taking part as a homebrewer? Contact The Brew Shop or Learn to Brew — each shop will help select 25 homebrewers to participate.

You can find more information by visiting the event’s Facebook page.
