Man attacked by accused burglar

An Oklahoma City homeowner called police after being stabbed and beaten by a burglar when he returned home Tuesday night. Police found two men stabbed in the living room of the house in the 4300 block of NW 16 Terrace about 9:50 p.m., according to the incident report. Rodney Dean Jarvis, 29, was arrested on complaints of burglary and assault with a dangerous weapon. The homeowner, Johnny Hughes, 58, told police he heard someone in his garage and was attacked when he went to investigate. He was stabbed in the leg with a knife while they struggled in the kitchen and was hit over the head with a model cannon while they struggled in the living room, according to the report. When Hughes tried to grab the fireplace poker to defend himself, his attacker took it away from him and stuck him with it, according to the report. Hughes told police he was able to grab a knife and stab his attacker in the ribs. Then he called 911. Hughes and Jarvis were taken to OU Medical Center. Hughes was discharged later. As of Thursday afternoon, Jarvis had not been taken to the Oklahoma County jail.
