The NCAA announced host site finalists for 2014-2018 championship sessions, and Oklahoma City is right in the mix.
Oklahoma City is a finalist to host the Division I Wrestling Championships, the Division II Softball Championships and the Division III Softball Championships. The announcement on the winning sites is scheduled for Dec. 11.
Oklahoma City is already home to the Women's College World Series for Division I teams in the spring. The city will also host the Division I Wrestling Championships next March.
Finalists were chosen by the respective sport committees, which are made up of coaches and administrators from NCAA member schools and conferences. The original pool of bids numbered 1,948.
BIG 12 HONORS OU GOLFER
Oklahoma freshman Alexandria Kaui was named Big 12 Women's Golfer of the Month for October.
Kaui led the Sooners in all three of the team's October tournaments, posting a 71.1 stroke average. She had a school-record 10-under-par 206 during the Alamo Invitational last weekend in San Antonio. That score helped the Sooners win their first fall tournament of the season with a school-best 24-under 840.
BISON RANKED NO. 2
The Oklahoma Baptist men's basketball team is tied for No. 2 in the NAIA Division I Preseason Top 25. Georgetown (Ky.) received nine of the 10 possible first-place votes. LSU-Shreveport received the only other first-place vote and tied OBU for No. 2. Both teams totaled 233 points, 17 behind Georgetown.
OBU is the only Oklahoma team ranked in the Top 25. Oklahoma City received 32 votes, 25 shy of cracking the poll.
