Oklahoma City International Auto Show ready to rev up State Fair Park

Camp Jeep, an interactive obstacle course, the Chrysler “Ride and Drive,” and visits from Dora the Explorer and former Sooner Kenny Stills are highlights at this year's show, which starts Thursday.

It's almost time to cruise over to this year's Oklahoma City International Auto Show, which starts March 7 and runs through the weekend at State Fair Park.

• When: 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. March 7-8; 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. March 9; and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. March 10.

• Where: State Fair Park.

• What's new: Camp Jeep, an indoor obstacle course; appearances by Dora the Explorer and Diego (noon to 5 p.m. March 9) and former University of Oklahoma Sooner football player Kenny Stills (1 to 3 p.m. March 9)

• Tickets: $10 for adults and $5 for children aged 7-12 (children 6 and under are free.) Discount coupons are available at www.okcautoshow.org. Tickets are sold at OnCue stations and at the show.

Twenty-five vehicle manufacturers are set to debut 2013 and 2014 models of crossovers, SUVs, trucks, preproduction cars, specialty cars and hybrids at the show.

Attendees will have an opportunity to test drive vehicles in the Chrysler Ride & Drive event, including a Chrysler 300, Chrysler 200, Chrysler Town & Country, Jeep Compass, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Dodge Challenger, Dodge Dart, Dodge Charger, Dodge Durango, Ram 1500 and FIAT 500.

New this year is Camp Jeep, an indoor obstacle course where show attendees can ride along with a professional driver.

The Jeep's handling is tested on an 18-foot high, 35-degree mountain as well as over and around logs, stumps and other terrain.

Children 44 inches or taller can ride at Camp Jeep, but those under age 12 must ride in the back seat, Chrysler said. Camp Jeep will be inside the Oklahoma Expo Hall.
