An Oklahoma City man was in jail Friday after police said he beat his 2-month-old son.

Antuan Xavier Rabon, 23, was arrested Thursday on a child abuse complaint. He was being held in the Oklahoma County jail Friday on $20,000 bail.

The boy’s mother told police she left Rabon with her son at 11:30 p.m. Wednesday while she went grocery shopping. When she returned from the grocery store, she found the boy with his face swollen and bruised, struggling to breathe.

The woman told police the boy had been injured while Rabon was watching him in the past. She described Rabon as a “meth head” and said she thinks he may have undiagnosed mental illnesses, police said.

The boy was taken by ambulance to The Children’s Hospital at OU Medical Center, where he was taken into state Department of Human Services custody, police said.
