Oklahoma City man wanted in knife attack on sleeping transient
Norman Adams, 49, is accused of kicking and stomping Gary Ehrgood and cutting him with a knife, police said.
Oklahoma City police are looking for a man accused of attacking another man with a knife while he slept.
Norman Adams, 49, is wanted in the attack on Gary Ehrgood, a transient who sleeps in a tent near 801 S Council Road.
Ehrgood was asleep shortly after midnight on July 12 when he was awakened by Adams, who “kicked, stomped and swung at Gary,” according to an arrest warrant affidavit.
Ehrgood told police he didn't know if Adams, an acquaintance, had a weapon, but he received “severe cuts to his left arm” that required stitches, police reported.
Ehrgood was cut with a knife, police said Thursday.
The victim was able to escape and call 911, and later identified Adams by photograph as the person who assaulted him, according to the affidavit.
Police are asking anyone who knows the whereabouts of Adams to contact 911 or Crime Stoppers (235-7300). Callers can remain anonymous, and may be eligible for a cash reward.
