Oklahoma City mayor elected for third term

Oklahoma City Mayor Mick Cornett comfortably won re-election Tuesday night.

Cornett, 51, bested local activist Steve Hunt, 39. Hunt was a vocal opponent of the Ford Center sales tax approved in 2008 and the MAPS 3 sales tax approved by voters in December. Cornett led the campaigns for both efforts.

With all precincts reporting, Cornett had 14,073 votes, or 58.3 percent, to Hunt’s 10,061 votes, or 41.7 percent.
