Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon: Marathon safety by the numbers

A look at some important safety numbers for the 2014 OKC Memorial Marathon.

50,000: Estimated number of combined participants and spectators expected at the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon.

130-140: Number of law enforcement personnel who usually worked the marathon, according to OCPD Major Steve McCool. He said the number will more than double this year after the Boston Marathon bombing.

20: Fluid stations that will provide Powerade and water throughout the marathon course (fluids will also be provided at the start). A police officer will be at each station.

16: Mile at which GU Energy Gel will be available for marathoners, provided by Red Coyote fitness store. There will be other energy food at various stations along the last half of course.
