Senior U.S. Open nears

The start of the 2014 U.S. Senior Open Championship, conducted by the United States Golf Association, is less than 100 days away.

The tournament at Oak Tree National will begin July 7 with three days of practice rounds.

Play gets underway July 10, and is scheduled to conclude July 13.

“This is when it all comes together,” said Jeff Ewing, 2014 U.S. Senior Open championship director.

“We want to thank everyone in Oklahoma and beyond for their support and enthusiasm. Together we are poised to stage the most significant special event in Edmond this summer.”

Event to benefit charity

Skate Galaxy OKC is teaming with Make-a-Wish Oklahoma for a superheroes event from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday. Skaters are encouraged to come dressed as their favorite superhero, and a portion of proceeds will be donated to Make-a-Wish Oklahoma.
