Craft fair will be Nov. 17
Southmoore High School, 2901 S Santa Fe Ave., will hold a craft fair from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Nov. 17 to raise money for scholarships. The purpose of the fair, sponsored by the Southmoore Parent Teacher Student Association, is to raise money for $300 to $500 scholarships that go to 10 to 12 randomly selected college-bound seniors, organizers said.
School board filing begins
Filing for the Putnam City Schools board of education begins at 8 a.m. Dec. 3 and ends at 5 p.m. Dec. 5. Board members serve a five-year term representing a geographic area within the district. There will be two seats open this year. For more information on boundaries, visit www.putnamcityschools.org/boardmap. Candidates must have lived in the district six months and must be a registered voter at an address within the boundaries. Candidates must also have a high school diploma or certificate of equivalency.
Heritage celebration set
The Native American Heritage Celebration is set for 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 19 at the Central Oklahoma Home Builders Event Center, 430 E Britton Rd. Sponsored by the Oklahoma Department of Human Services Office for Civil Rights and the Native American Heritage Committee, this year's theme is “The Shared Journey: The Resiliency of our Native People.” The event will feature storytelling, singing and dancing and traditional foods including a free lunch. Elks schedule pancake breakfast
MIDWEST CITY — Elks Lodge No. 1890 of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks will offer a pancake breakfast from 7 a.m. to noon Saturday. The all-you-can-eat breakfast will feature pancakes, sausage, orange juice, milk and coffee. Cost is $5 per person, ages 13 and up. Children 12 and under eat free.
