Art lecture set at OU
Sarah Burt, the Chan and Clara Ferguson chief curator of the Charles M. Russell Museum, will lecture at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Mary Eddy and Fred Jones Auditorium at the Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art. Burt will speak on “O'Keeffe in Abiquiu: Mid-Century Modernism in a Spanish Colonial House.” Burt was manager of the Georgia O'Keeffe Foundation for a decade and will speak on how O'Keeffe transformed a dilapidated Spanish Colonial hacienda into a modern home.
Candidate forum set
Norman NEXT will host a candidate forum for Senate District 15 and House District 45 candidates at 6 p.m. Monday at the Norman Chamber of Commerce, 115 E Gray St. Vying for the Senate District 15 seat are Democrat Claudia Griffith and Republican Rob Standridge. Candidates for House District 45 are incumbent Republican Aaron Stiles and Democrat Paula Baker.
Monster Dash announced
The Junior League of Norman will sponsor the Monster Dash 5k and one-mile fun run/walk Nov. 3. The race will begin at Journey Church, 3801 Journey Parkway. The 5k will begin at 8 a.m. and the fun run/walk at 9 a.m. Activities will include a costume contest, music and donor booths. Register to run at www.juniorleagueofnorman.org.
Big Read selected
The Ex Libris Book Club will meet at 9:30 a.m. Nov. 7 at St. Michael's Church at State Highway 9 and Imhoff Road for a review of Tobias Wolff's novel, “Old School.” The book is the Pioneer Library System's 2013 Big Read selection.
