In the Oklahoma City metro area, many incumbents already have filed their intent to seek re-election, but a number of offices are still without a candidate and even fewer incumbents have challengers yet.

Oklahoma City School Board member Lyn Watson said Tuesday she is not going to file for re-election in Office 1, and as of 5 p.m. no other candidates had filed for the office.

“I had talked to many people about running and for many people it's a time issue and a commitment, and I understand that,” Watson said.

“I'm not going to file, but we've got to get somebody good in the office.”

Watson said she hopes qualified candidates will step up.

If nobody files then the school board will appoint someone.

Other area districts

Two seats are vacant on the Putnam City School Board, and board member Greg Juedeman is seeking re-election, while no one had filed for the Office 3 seat by 5 p.m. Tuesday.
