Students have been released from Webster Middle School, where they were held for more than an hour while police searched the area for home invasion suspects, a school district official said.

The school, 6708 S Santa Fe Ave., was placed on lockdown at 3:50 p.m. Students were released about 5:05 p.m., Oklahoma City Public Schools spokeswoman Tierney Tinnin reported.

Students were advised to walk home in groups, Tinnin said.

The robbery occurred at a home in the 500 block of SE 71 about two blocks from the school, she said.
