A mother found passed out in a parking lot with her toddler lying next to her has been arrested, police said.

Ashley August O'Grady, 30, of Oklahoma City, was arrested Monday on complaints of child abuse, child neglect, child endangerment and failure to provide for a child.

Police were called about 11:25 a.m. Monday to the Almonte Apartments in the 5900 block of S May Avenue. The caller told police he found a girl lying on the asphalt and her mother unresponsive. The caller said he took the 14-month-old girl inside an apartment and went back to check on the mother, according to the police report.

When O'Grady came to, she grabbed a 10-ounce can of office cleaning duster spray, put the can to her mouth and sucked up the spray that came from the can, the man told police. She then began to wobble and passed out again, he said.

Paramedics and firefighters responded and treated O'Grady and then released her to police, who arrested her.

Paramedics took the girl to a hospital to be checked because they were concerned about her temperature, according to police.

Police found Pirate's Booty Potpourri and a pipe in O'Grady's pocket and in her apartment, according to the report.

O'Grady was taken to the Oklahoma County jail and was being held Tuesday on $40,000 bail, jail officials said.
