Oklahoma City Museum of Art constantly changing

Leslie Spears is like a living museum.

She's the communications manager at the Oklahoma City Museum of Art, which has been sitting at 415 Couch Drive since 2002. Without hesitation she can walk through the museum and discuss anything you would want to know about the three floors inside the downtown Oklahoma City building.

This can't be easy because the museum is changing constantly. The walls surrounding the first floor exhibit will soon be repainted and rearranged to make way for a Venetian art exhibit and the rooftop cocktail parties will end once the weather cools down. But for every event that stops, something new is there to replace it.

The museum offers year-round art school workshops for adults and children in order to sharpen talent in anything from painting and photography to glass blowing and drawing. Art enthusiasts also can experience lectures throughout the year.

"It's exiting. Art is exciting," Spears said. "My favorite subtitle to use is 'more than a museum,' because we offer so much."

Roughly 65 employees ensure the museum keeps a running pace. In addition to housing artwork, the museum boasts a movie theater showcasing everything from Hollywood sing-a-longs to Japanese samurai art house films. Below the theater, the Museum Café acts as a full-service restaurant offering lunch, dinner and any other meal in between you could think of.
