The Rev. Hance Dilbeck, an Oklahoma City pastor, was elected second vice president of the Southern Baptist Convention during the denomination’s recent annual meeting in Baltimore.

Dilbeck has been senior pastor of Quail Springs Baptist Church, 14613 N May, since 2003. Prior to that, he served seven years as senior pastor of First Baptist Church of Ponca City.

Meanwhile, the convention’s Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission honored the Green family, owners of Oklahoma City-based Hobby Lobby, at the annual convention gathering held Tuesday and Wednesday at the Baltimore Convention Center. The commission’s President Russell D. Moore presented the John Leland Religious Liberty Award to Steve and Jackie Green for their family’s rejection of the contraception mandate that was part of the federal health care reform act, and the family’s subsequent legal fight against the mandate.
