A man accused of exchanging gunfire with an Oklahoma City police officer was arrested early Sunday.

Jared Keith Gravitt, 25, was arrested about 5 a.m. and booked into Oklahoma County jail, police Capt. Dexter Nelson said.

About 2 a.m., police responded to a disturbance call from a Walgreens, 9011 S Pennsylvania, that an intoxicated man entered the store and threatened an employee with a knife. The man had left by the time officers arrived, Nelson said.

An officer saw a man walking westbound on SW 85, when he attempted to talk to him, the man pulled a handgun from his waist and began shooting, Nelson said.

The officer, whose name has not been released, returned gunfire and the man ran away. A woman who was walking with man was detained and interviewed, Nelson said.

The officer was not injured, but the officer’s vehicle was hit by at least one round to the windshield, Neslon said.
