Police arrested a 15-year-old after he admitted to accidentally shooting a teenage girl in the head early this morning in southeast Oklahoma City.
Investigators said Charles Johnson admitted to accidentally shooting Chinyere Clay, 14, who is listed in critical condition at an area hospital. Johnson was arrested on complaints of reckless conduct with a firearm and possession of a firearm after a former conviction of a felony.
Sgt. Jennifer Wardlow said that at this time, investigators believe the shooting was accidental.
After responding to a call at 2813 SE 45 shortly after midnight, police questioned several people who were at the house, Wardlow said. During the interviews, police spoke with Johnson, who was taken directly to a juvenile detention facility.
A neighbor, who did not want to be identified, said gunshots are common in the neighborhood. He said he heard gunfire late Thursday but could not tell where it came from on the block.
