Police on Tuesday identified an Oklahoma City man arrested after officers found an explosive device in his vehicle on Monday.

Spencer Colin Griffith, 28, was being held Tuesday evening in the Oklahoma County jail on complaints of manufacturing an explosive device, burglary, assault and battery, possession of burglary tools and indecent exposure, jail records show.

On Monday afternoon, officers went to The Cottage Apartments, in the 1200 block of W Hefner Road, to investigate a report of a man seen at the complex several times recently. The woman who called police said she thought the man was stalking her teenage daughter, according to a news release from Oklahoma City police.

Officers arrived and found Griffith sitting in a vehicle outside of the woman's apartment building. Officers determined that Griffith did not live at the complex, detained him and searched his vehicle.

Officers located several “suspicious items” in the car, which led them to believe that the subject was attempting to commit a crime, according to the news release. Among the items was what appeared to be an improvised bomb.
