Oklahoma City police have identified the grandfather who died Monday in an accidental shooting.

Paul Phillip Derryberry, 62, died at his home in the 11700 block of SW 16, according to a police report.

According to the report, Derryberry's wife said he was trying to take his shotgun to his brother's home in Hinton while his grandson and grandson's friend were at his home.

Derryberry did not have a safe to secure the shotgun.

The gun went off when it got caught on something in the trunk of his car, police said.
