Oklahoma City police investigate shooting as victim dies in hospital

An Oklahoma City man who witnesses said was shot at an Oklahoma City intersection on Monday has died, and police have yet to identify a suspect.

Oklahoma City police Master Sgt. Gary Knight said the victim, Rickey Lee Smith, 53, died about 7:20 p.m. Thursday.

Police said Smith was driving a sport utility vehicle north on S Blackwelder Avenue on Monday and stopped for a stop sign at the Interstate 240 Service Road. A white pickup stopped behind Smith and a person got out, walked up to the driver’s side of the SUV and shot him, witnesses told police.
