Grice was off duty when his Jeep was struck by a van about 4 p.m. Sunday while he was stopped at a red light, according to an Oklahoma Highway Patrol report.
He was hit from behind at U.S. 177 at 45th Street in Shawnee. Michael Monroe, 53, of Oklahoma City, said he was distracted by a passenger in the van when he hit the Jeep, the report states.
Monroe and a passenger in his van were not injured. Another passenger was taken to OU Medical Center and admitted in good condition with a head injury, the patrol reported.
The initial patrol report stated everyone involved in the crash wore a seat belt except Grice. The report was revised Tuesday to state Grice was wearing his seat belt.
