Oklahoma City police seek man they say shot another man for choking a woman
Omar Mata, 26, was arrested on a complaint of domestic abuse by strangulation, Oklahoma City police report. Authorities are looking for the man who fired the shots.
Oklahoma City police said they are looking for a man who shot another man for choking a woman.
The woman's boyfriend shot Omar Mata, 26, about 1 a.m. Monday and fled the 1400 block of NE 20, police said.
Mata began arguing with the woman when she arrived home from picking up her children, Sgt. Jennifer Wardlow said. Police would not say how Mata is connected to the woman and her children.
Mata told the woman he wanted to kiss the kids, so she allowed him into the backseat of the car. While she was sitting in front, he wrapped his arms around her neck and choked her, Wardlow said.
The woman hit Mata until he let go and got out of the car.
Her boyfriend confronted Mata outside the car and shot him twice, police said.
Mata was treated and released from the hospital before he was booked into the Oklahoma County jail on a complaint of domestic abuse by strangulation. He is being held without bail.
The boyfriend's name is being withheld by police because he has not been arrested and a warrant for his arrest has not been issued, police said.
