Oklahoma City once again boasted the lowest jobless rate in the nation last month, with a preliminary unemployment rate of 4.6 percent, according to numbers released Wednesday by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

The city's unemployment rate was down slightly from 4.9 percent in February. Unemployment has dropped slowly but steadily over the past three months.

Oklahoma City has consistently posted one of the lowest unemployment rates out of the country's 49largest metropolitan areas for the past two years.

Nationwide, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported a jobless rate of 7.6percent in March, not seasonally adjusted, down from 8.4percent a year earlier.

Statewide, Oklahoma posted a 5 percent unemployment rate for March, down from 5.4 percent in February.
