Bullpen shenanigans are part of baseball, ranging from setting a teammate’s shoe on fire to dumping a cup of water on a teammate’s head. Closer Kevin Chapman said the RedHawks’ bullpen trotted out something new this season.
“If we win on a walk-off, if someone is warming up we’ll give them a Gatorade shower,” Chapman said. “We have a lot of spare time down there. It can get a little monotonous so some guys get creative.”
One traditional prank is timing it perfectly to have a teammate fall.
“As soon as they’re getting ready to sit down we’ll bump the chair out from under them. Everyone laughs,” Chapman said. “It’s always embarrassing but it’s all in good fun. Down in the bullpen everyone knows you always have to be watching your back.”
