Domingo Santana’s two-run homer in the sixth inning helped the Oklahoma City RedHawks to a 4-1 Pacific Coast League baseball victory over Round Rock on a chilly Monday night before 4,824 fans at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.
Santana’s third homer of the season came off former Oklahoma pitcher Daniel McCutchen, who is now with the Texas Rangers organization. Oklahoma City had a 3-1 lead after the sixth, adding another run in the bottom of the eighth on Jon Singleton’s ninth homer of the spring.
McCutchen took the loss and fell to 0-1. He came on in relief for former Oklahoma State standout Scott Richmond, who allowed just one run on four hits. Richmond struck out four before leaving after the fifth inning.
Darin Downs, the second of five Oklahoma City pitchers, improved to 1-2.
Oklahoma City (14-11) and Round Rock (13-11) continue the series at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday.
