Oklahoma City RedHawks edge New Orleans Zephyrs

The RedHawks got their third straight one-run victory Thursday night, beating New Orleans 2-1 in the opener of a four-game series at Zephyr Field.

Wade LeBlanc, making his first start with OKC, pitched 3 1/3 innings, allowing one run on three hits, walking five and striking out two. Reliever Kevin Chapman (1-2) earned the win.

RedHawks pitching tied a season high by giving up 11 walks in the game.

New Orleans starting pitcher Brian Flynn (2-9) took the loss, allowing two runs and seven hits over 6 2/3 innings. The lefthander struck out six and walked three.


The RedHawks' series with the Zephyrs continues at 7 p.m. Friday. Right-hander Jake Buchanan (1-0, 3.60 ERA) is scheduled to start for Oklahoma City, while left-hander Duane Below (4-3, 2.64) will take the mound for New Orleans.

After wrapping up the series with New Orleans, Oklahoma City will head to Round Rock for a three-game set before returning home to face New Orleans again on July 11.
