FRESNO, Calif. — Fresno scored three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning and turned back a rally in the ninth to beat Oklahoma City 4-3 late Wednesday night in Pacific Coast League baseball at Chukchansi Park.
Oklahoma City (63-63) led 3-1 when the Grizzlies, who had scored just once in the first 16 innings of the series, rallied. Trevor Brown and Mark Minicozzi had RBI singles to tie the game, and then Chris Dominguez gave Fresno the lead with a bases-loaded sacrifice fly.
The RedHawks had runners on second and third with no out in the ninth inning. But Fresno (60-65) closer Erik Cordier retired Max Stassi, Jio Mier and Jonathan Villar to clinch the win. Villar led the RedHawks with three hits.
The teams played Game 3 of the series late Thursday night.
