On short rest, things did not go well for Oklahoma City right-hander Mike Foltynewicz and the RedHawks.

The New Orleans Zephyrs used a five-run third to chase Foltynewicz and in turn rout the RedHawks 10-1 to open a four-game series Monday at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

Foltynewicz (6-6) lasted just three innings, allowing seven runs on six hits and six walks. He was starting a day earlier than originally scheduled after the Houston Astros promoted David Martinez to their bullpen on Sunday.

As a result, the starting rotation has been bumped up a day all around.

Oklahoma City (47-45) took a 1-0 lead in the first on a lead-off double by Robbie Grossman and single by Marc Krauss.

The Zephyrs (45-46) then went to work — scoring 10 unanswered runs behind a three-run homer from Juan Diaz and a solo shot from Kyle Jensen — to back right-hander Anthony DeSclafani (2-2).

SANTANA STRUGGLES IN FIRST GAME BACK

Oklahoma City outfielder Domingo Santana’s struggles continued.

After going 0 for 13 with 11 strikeouts during his recent stint with the Astros, Santana was sent back to the RedHawks on Sunday.

The 21-year-old returned to the lineup Monday, striking out two more times and finishing 0 for 4. Dating back to June 29, he is 2 for 25 with 17 strikeouts between both teams.
