RENO, Nev. — Oklahoma City scored all the runs it needed in the second inning late Tuesday night and beat Reno 4-2 in Pacific Coast League baseball at Aces Ballpark.
The RedHawks (40-33) had an RBI single from Gregorio Petit and a three-run homer from Carlos Perez to take a 4-0 lead. Reno (40-32) scored twice in the seventh inning to make it close, and the Aces threatened again in the ninth inning as 3,782 fans watched.
After the first two batters reached base, Oklahoma City closer Jason Stoffel retired the next three to notch his seventh save of the season.
Starting pitcher Rudy Owens, who made his first appearance for the RedHawks in two weeks, picked up the victory. He blanked the Aces on five hits, a walk and five strikeouts in five innings.
Oklahoma City and Reno played the second game of the series late Wednesday night.
