Nick Tepesch and two other Round Rock pitchers combined on a 6-hit shutout in a 3-0 win over the RedHawks on Thursday night at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

The Express scored two runs in the second on a solo home run by Jared Hoying and doubles from Chris Gimenez. Kensue Tanaka added an insurance run with an RBI single in the ninth.

The RedHawks’ best scoring chance was the sixth when they loaded the bases with two out. The rally was snuffed out when Round Rock left fielder Ryan Strausborger ran back to reach up and snare a Kike Hernandez’s line drive.

TEPESCH PITCHING WELL

Tepesch continues to make a case to join the Rangers rotation. Following a win Thursday, Tepesch is 5-1 with a 1.59 ERA and 33 strikeouts. Tepesch last season was 4-6 with a 4.84 ERA with the Rangers.

UP NEXT

The RedHawks open a four-game road trip at Omaha Friday night. Oklahoma City will start right-hander David Martinez (3-2, 3.75 ERA). Omaha will throw veteran Brett Tomko (1-2, 6.52). The RedHawks return home Tuesday to begin an eight-game homestand against Memphis and Colorado Springs.
