Oklahoma City School Board to get new president

The chair position is elected throughout the entire school district, which has 77 schools and nearly 44,000 students.

About 90 percent are eligible for free or reduced-price lunch.

Angela Monson, associate provost at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, was elected four years ago. Hardin is president and CEO of Integrated Solutions.

New board members will represent Districts 1 and 2.

In District 1, advertising executive Bob Hammack beat retired social worker E. Jann Maultsby by a 52 percent margin. Hammack won 1,104 votes to 319.

District 1 Board Member Lyn Watson did not seek re-election.

The area covers northern Oklahoma City and part of The Village and includes John Marshall Mid-High, Oklahoma Centennial Mid-High and seven elementary schools.

In District 2, factory representative Justin Ellis defeated incumbent Gail Vines by a 2 to 1 margin. Ellis won 1,152 votes to 578. Even though Vines was on the ballot, she said she would not serve on the board again if elected.

District 2 covers part of northwest Oklahoma City, all of Nichols Hills and part of The Village.

It encompasses Belle Isle Enterprise Middle School and seven elementary schools.
