“District administration always makes decisions with the best interest of every Oklahoma City Public School student in mind,” Park said. “Because this is a legal matter, additional information cannot be shared at this time.”

The school received poor marks from the state Education Department this year, including Fs in reading and math.

Also, in February, a Marcus Garvey Leadership Charter School teacher, Pascal Wayne Jones, 42, of Edmond, was charged with 25 counts related to alleged sexual contact with a student. A girl told police Jones molested her at the school.

Police also investigated whether school staffers failed to protect the girl after she said she attempted to speak with them while the alleged incidents were taking place.

Jones is due back in court next month.
