What happened

About 6 a.m. Tuesday, a shooting was reported at an apartment complex in the 1700 block of S Grand Boulevard, police report.

Investigators reported that Knowles and Riggs were in a relationship. They were visiting family and friends at the apartment complex when Knowles removed a pistol from a backpack and shot Riggs numerous times, authorities reported. A short time later, he also shot an adult male numerous times before being confronted by police.

When Scott arrived, he determined that Knowles was inside an apartment. Scott went to the rear of the apartment, authorities reported.

Scott confronted Knowles and fired a shot but missed Knowles.

Knowles retreated into the apartment, but then surrendered and was taken into custody.

Riggs and the man who was shot were both taken to OU Medical Center, where Riggs later died. The wounded man is expected to survive. His name is being withheld because he is related to Knowles, police report.
