A: Growth. We need a bigger building to accommodate people. We started out in 1983 with 10 families, about 35 people. We began to grow in the mid-1990s, and now we have about 110 people in our congregation. The new building will accommodate about 200 people.
A: Most traditional gurdwaras have a dome on top but for various reasons, we decided to go without this. The building will include the most common sign of Sikhism on its exterior: a symbol of the first word/phrase of our Scripture: “one God.”
A: The new building is being constructed toward the back of our parcel of land on NW 16 just west of Meridian.
We have talked about using the smaller building as a free medical clinic or maybe a community center. It will be something for the community.
