Oklahoma City business executive Clay Bennett has accepted an appointment to serve on a state board overseeing efforts to build the American Indian Cultural Center and Museum east of downtown.

Oklahoma House of Representatives Speaker T.W. Shannon appointed Bennett to fill one of the four business community seats on the 17-member board for the Native American Cultural and Educational Authority.

“I look forward to working with my fellow board members to complete the center in an efficient, timely, financially sound and prudent manner,” said Bennett, who is president of the Oklahoma City Thunder ownership group.

Construction of the half-built museum has been delayed because of funding issues.
