Kevin Durant is the MVP. ESPN called it.

The ESPN Forecast has spoken, saying that not only should Durant win the MVP, he will win the award, overtaking LeBron James who started the season with an 80-percent likelihood of winning.

But numerous factors played into Durant taking over the lead in the MVP race -- from the Heat's relatively slow start, to Durant carrying the Thunder through Russell Westbrook's absence.

By the time March rolled around, the panel of 102 voters was 80 percent in favor of Durant.
