Oklahoma City Thunder notebook: Former Oklahoma State guard James Anderson finds home with Philadelphia 76ers

Philadelphia coach Brett Brown is familiar with former Oklahoma State guard James Anderson.

He was part of the coaching staff that drafted him to San Antonio back in 2010 and helped develop him over the next few years.

And so when Anderson was looking for a restart on his NBA career this offseason, Brown, about to start his head-coaching career in Philadelphia, had the perfect place.

And the pairing has worked out well.

“Maybe we’ve caught him at the right time in his career,” Brown said of Anderson. “He’s traveled around, been to some different environments and now he’s getting older.”

And getting better.

In 60 games for the Sixers this season — and 42 starts — Anderson is averaging career highs in minutes (28.6), points (9.8) and rebounds (3.9). Against the Thunder on Tuesday, Anderson had 20 points, including 14 in the first quarter.

“What he does on the court is done with his A+ best effort,” Brown said. “He gives such a solid performance and carries himself with such grace.”

DURANT RETURNS TO FORM

After one of his worst shooting performances of the year — 8-of-26 against the Bobcats on Sunday — Kevin Durant returned to his ultra-efficient form.

In the Thunder’s 125-92 win over Philadelphia, Durant scored 42 points on 14-of-20 shooting in only 33 minutes.
