Costly drought
The Thunder once again was plagued by an extended dry spell. Trailing by 12 points, the Mavericks went on a 16-0 run to retake the lead late in regulation before Oklahoma City rallied to force overtime. During the drought, Oklahoma City was 0-of-4 from the field with four turnovers.

"We’ve got to be able to avoid that terrible stretch,” said Nick Collison. "We were up 12, and just like that it was tied. You know they’ll make a run, but we have to hold them off better than that and get something going.”

NOWITZKI DOES IT AGAIN
Dallas All-Star forward Dirk Nowitzki is becoming a Thunder killer. He scored 41 points to lead the Mavericks’ comeback. Nowitzki scored 46 points earlier this season in a 103-99 win over Oklahoma City.

"This game was just like the last time we played them, when they took us all the way down the stretch,” Nowitzki said. "They’re really a young team, and even with (Kevin) Durant out, they kept coming. (Russell) Westbrook is a beast, and (Jeff) Green had a heck of a game. It didn’t look good when we were down 12.”

ZONE ISSUES
The Mavericks switching to a 2-3 matchup zone in the fourth quarter played a key role in the 16-0 run.
