SEFOLOSHA MISSES PRACTICE WITH SORE FOOT

Thunder starting guard Thabo Sefolosha sat out of Friday's practice with a sore right foot and is listed day-to-day.

"He's improved (Friday)," coach Scott Brooks said. "So we'll just see how he feels. Knowing Thabo, he loves to play. If he's ready, he's going to play. There's no doubt. We're not going to save him for Minnesota (on Monday night)."

If Sefolosha is unavailable, James Harden will start in his place.

"I'm always ready to go," Harden said. "Hopefully Thabo can get back as soon as possible. We need his defensive presence."

The Thunder opens the 2011-12 regular season Sunday at 7 p.m. against the Orlando Magic. OKC then plays at Minnesota on Monday; at Memphis on Wednesday; at home against Dallas on Thursday; at home against Phoenix on New Year's Eve.

TAP-INS

* NBA commissioner David Stern will attend the Thunder-Orlando opener after attending the Heat-Mavericks game in Dallas. Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Matt Kemp of Midwest City also is expected to be on hand for the OKC game.

* After a rugged Thursday practice, the Thunder had a better day Friday. "I thought today was one of our best practices," Brooks said. "They came back and they were sharp. They were focused. They got after it. It was a good practice today from the start to the very end."

* So players can spend time with their families, the Thunder will not have its usual game day shoot-around on Christmas Day. OKC instead will have the 45-minute session on Saturday morning at its new practice facility.
