Looks like there will be change after all in Thunderland with the imminent arrival of Caron Butler.

Reports are that Butler selected the Thunder over the Miami Heat. What does the rest of the basketball world have to say about the Thunder’s newest (pending) acquisition:

First from the homebase: The deal isn’t done, but our Darnell Mayberry asked Thunder players Friday morning about what adding Butler would do for the team.

Zach Bunkley of Bleacher Report says the Thunder was able to offer Butler something the Heat wasn’t.

Heat beat writer Ira Winderman of the Miami Sun-Sentinel says Butler would have greater value on the Thunder, as the Heat’s rotation is getting tighter and tighter.

Jeff MacDonald of the San Antonio Express-News doesn’t think the Spurs are done. They’ll add from within – a la the Thunder with Russell Westbrook:

Michael Dunlap of’s Fansided blog said Butler is the kind of guy who can score in bunches.

Jeff Caplan of says Butler could provide help on both ends. His take:

Butler will be a significant veteran pick-up for the youthful Thunder, who will benefit from Butler’s rugged, perimeter defense in isolated matchups. Butler is no longer the high-minute, All-Star-type small forward he was a few seasons ago. But in spurts off the bench, he can bring the Thunder the toughness and scoring punch they need.

And Gery Woelfel of The Journal Times (Racine, Wis. – Butler’s hometown) says even as Butler was phased from a starter to a reserve this season, the veteran leaves Milwaukee on good terms, and some glowing quotes from Bucks general manager John Hammond.
