*Oklahoma City forward Kevin Durant on outside motivation playing a factor: “I was worried about what you guys were saying. I was worried about what shots I was going to shoot throughout the game. I was just thinking too much and the game of basketball is played off instincts. I realized that I started playing this game to have fun and I didn’t want to take the pure fun out of this game by just thinking too much, so I just released everything and enjoyed it.”
*Oklahoma City point guard Russell Westbrook on loving Game 7s: “I don’t want to go home. You fought too hard to get to this point. We were down and we fought too hard to put ourselves in position to come back home in front of our friends to let them down.”
*Memphis coach Dave Joerger on playing without center Zach Randolph: “Obviously, not having Zach affects our team. We don’t play the way that we play tonight but we thought that gave us the best chance to win. So, I don’t think the two games are very similar at all except that Durant made a bunch of 3s. He was 5 for 5. He struggled from the 3-point line a little bit, but he really got going, which I think he did Game 7 the last time we played them too.”
*Oklahoma City coach Scott Brooks on moving past Memphis: “We knew going into the series that by the seeding they were seventh, but they were as good as any team in the West. They have two big-time players down low and they have a really, really good point guard — an all-star level point guard. They grind you out. They pound the ball and they just keep coming at you with their physicality. Give our guys credit. They stepped up and matched them. We have multiple players that can battle with them.”
