NEWARK, N.J. – Thunder All-Star Kevin Durant has a sprained left knee and will not play tonight against the New Jersey Nets in the Prudential Center.
Durant injured the knee during Monday night's 95-89 victory at home against New Orleans and is now listed day-to-day. The Thunder plays at Toronto on Friday and at home against Golden State on Sunday.
This will be Durant's third missed start of the season. His previously suffered a sprained left ankle and the Thunder responded by winning back-to-back games at Boston and Milwaukee.
Jeff Green will replace Durant at small forward and Serge Ibaka will start at power forward. Center Nenad Krstic, who missed two games with back spasms before returning Monday, will start tonight, as will guards Russell Westbrook and Thabo Sefolosha.
Brooks said he also anticipates D.J. White and Byron Mullens will get some extra minutes against the Nets.
Durant is said to have injured the knee while going against Hornets power forward David West in the fourth quarter of Monday's come-from-behind victory.
"He took the challenge of guarding the tough guy," Brooks said of Durant. "He (West) was having his way with us."
Meanwhile, New Jersey point guard Devin Harris also will miss tonight's game, plus Friday's at Charlotte with a sprained left knee.
Forward Kris Humphries blocked a shot and landed on Harris' lower body. "You never want it to be you to be the one to hurt your teammate, but it happens, I guess," Humphries said. "Hopefully he gets better soon."
Backup point guard Jordan Farmar would replace Harris.
"I've just got to be ready to do more, play more, be more aggressive and have enough energy for (Westbrook)," said Farmar, who like Westbrook, played college ball at UCLA. "That's my guy, from UCLA, my young boy. He's been playing out of his mind, really, really good. I've got to be ready to chase him, get through screens. He's going to get to the free-throw line and be really aggressive all night, so I've got to make him work at the other end as well."
