Oklahoma City, Tulsa areas see rise in bank robberies
The number of bank robberies in the Oklahoma City metro area nearly quadrupled last year compared with the previous year, FBI spokesman Gary Johnson said.
There were 39 bank robberies in Oklahoma City in 2009, up from 10 in 2008, Johnson said.
While that is not a record, it is well above the city’s average, he said. Johnson said in 2003 there were 50 bank robberies in the metro area.
