Oklahoma City University is enjoying new leadership this year, several new programs and continued expansion.

Former 10th Circuit Court of Appeals judge Robert Henry this summer became president of the United Methodist-affiliated university in the Midtown district of Oklahoma City.

In an earlier interview with The Oklahoman, Henry said his goal is to continue the progress of the university, which now offers more than 60 undergraduate majors, 12 graduate degrees — including a law degree and an MBA — and the Adult Studies Program.

The school has about 2,100 undergraduate students and 1,700 graduate students from 46 states and 49 countries.

OCU for years has attracted students locally, nationally and internationally for its performing arts programs, said Eduardo Prieto, vice president of enrollment services.

In more recent years the school is becoming equally known for its law school, Meinders School of Business and other programs, Prieto said.

"We have so much talent here," he said. "We are strong in everything we offer, whether it's academics or arts or our athletics program, which has won 39 national championships at our level."
