Oklahoma City University’s student-led community service project called OneGive will return April 19 with several new events to encourage participation and sustainability awareness on campus.

This year’s OneGive is subtitled “RenewIT!” and will feature five individual activities throughout the day — ChunkIT!, an Ultimate tournament; ImagineIT!, a recyclable art contest; DumpIT!, a trash bin search game; PlantIT!, a student volunteer project to plant trees on and around campus; and DimIT!, a series of performances outdoors while electrical power is shut down inside campus buildings.

OneGive, which is sponsored by OCU’s Student Government Association, was started in 2008 as a campus-wide and community-wide day of service.

OneGive chairman Jaron Reid said this year’s focus was on getting students involved in outdoor activities to save electrical energy, along with the event’s annual focus on helping the community at large.

“OneGive is the uniting of the campus community to complete a common task, which is to give back to our community and our campus,” Reid said. “This year’s OneGive is geared toward enjoyable activities that also accomplish the goal of giving back to our community.”
