Candidates miss report deadline

Recently elected Ward 7 city Councilman John A. Pettis Jr. missed Monday's deadline to report contributions and expenses for the final two weeks of the spring election campaign. Pettis, 30, won 61.7 percent of the vote to defeat two-term incumbent Ronald “Skip” Kelly in the April 2 election. Kelly also missed the deadline. After Tuesday morning's city council meeting, Pettis said a computer glitch kept him from filing on time. Kelly said Tuesday afternoon that his campaign was working on filing the report. Candidates for city council file electronically with the Oklahoma Ethics Commission. Reports detail contributions from individuals and political action committees, and expenses for items such as advertising and lawn signs. Reports can be found on the Ethics Commission website, www.ok.gov/oec/. Click on the Capitol dome icon labeled “Campaign Reporting” at the bottom of the page.
