Police are looking for a woman who bragged on her Facebook page about taking her children from their guardian and leaving the country, court papers show.
Cynthia Dawn Turner, 42, of Oklahoma City, was charged Tuesday in Oklahoma County District Court with making a harassing telephone call and violating a protective order by meeting her 9-year-old twins at a movie theater.
Turner is accused of threatening her mother, Cynthia Lee Payne, the children's legal guardian, over the phone, according to an arrest warrant affidavit.
Turner is on the run and thought to be hiding out in Eufaula, authorities said. She has two convictions for making harassing or threatening phone calls, and is charged in three additional cases with child stealing and telephone harassment, court records show.
Payne and her daughter have been at odds over custody of the children since their father died Dec. 9. Payne began receiving threatening phone calls from Turner after Scott Hartley died of a heart attack, according to court papers from one of Turner's pending cases.
Last month, Turner's adult daughter took the children, a boy and a girl, to a movie at Crossroads Mall. When they returned, Payne recovered a cellphone from one of the children that belonged to Turner, police reported.
The adult daughter told Payne she knew her mother was not allowed to be around the twins, but said Turner manipulated her into letting her see the children in the theater parking lot, a detective wrote in the affidavit.
