Oklahoma City's Fox affiliate has plenty of NFL choices

Station will show Dallas Cowboys and Minnesota Vikings games, and is trying to get more St. Louis Rams games to showcase former OU star Sam Bradford.

Oklahoma City Fox affiliate KOKH-25 has a pleasant problem with its NFL telecasts — too much of a good thing in the NFC.

Projected number of telecasts in Oklahoma City of teams with highest local fan interest:

Dallas Cowboys, 16: Fox 9, NBC 3, CBS 2, ESPN 1, NFL Network 1.

Minnesota Vikings, 13: Fox 7, NBC 2, CBS 2, ESPN 2.

St. Louis Rams, 4: Fox 2*, CBS 2.

*Fox may provide more games as season progresses.

Already blessed with an abundance of telecasts with two powerhouses, the Dallas Cowboys and Minnesota Vikings, the emergence of former OU star Sam Bradford as a St. Louis Rams quarterback suddenly has made that team a hot property here.

The Cowboys, who led the way with a 14.4 rating here last season, certainly will get their due with nine games on KOKH-25. Rest easy, Cowboys fans, the team’s other seven games will air here on other networks.

The Vikings, with former OU star running back Adrian Peterson and media darling Brett Favre at quarterback, made strong inroads last season with a 13.6 ratings average in Oklahoma City. They have seven games on KOKH-25, as Fox programmers gambled on Favre returning for his 20th NFL season. Six other Vikings telecasts are projected to air here.

So where does that leave the Rams, who in two preseason games have averaged a strong 8.1 rating on KOCB-34, KOKH-25’s sister station? Not in good shape.

Only two Rams telecasts are on KOKH-25’s preliminary schedule, both late in the season — at Denver, at 3:15 p.m. Nov. 28, and at Seattle, at 3:15 p.
